Scalded Spinach (Shigumchi Namul)

  • 1 pound of spinach
  • 8 cups of water with 1 tablespoon of table salt
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp of Korean pepper flakes or regular red pepper flakes
  • Salt, to taste
  • Sesame seed, for garnish
  1. Scald spinach in water.
  2. Rinse in cold water and drain
  3. Squeeze out spinach to remove water
  4. Lay spinach flat in a casserole dish
  5. Drizzle the rest of the ingredients evenly
  6. Toss until spinach and all ingredients are incorporated
  7. Garnish with sesame seed before serving.
